We love game nights with strategy-heavy board games that might take a few hours to finish. But sometimes you just want an hour of fun to break up the usual “how was your day” dinner talk. Or to get some frustration off your chest in the name of friendly debate over wine or charcuterie.

Don’t worry, of the 200 cards included here, there are no polarizing topics broaching things like religion or politics. You’re not trying to turn this game into an actual cutthroat argument. It’s more about expressing those very strong feelings we all have on relatively unimportant topics, like who gets the armrests on a flight, or if you’d rather watch new movies in a theater or on your couch (or maybe in your backyard movie theater).
If debating just isn’t your thing, Brass Monkey’s trivia packs are a personal favorite, but the brand has tons of mini games for whatever you might like.

With so many skincare brands falling short on ingredient transparency, it’s no surprise that more of us are turning to cleaner, healthier ways to care for our skin. Some drugstore products can even do more harm than good. The bright side? Creating your own skincare is simpler than you think, and you don’t have to be a cosmetic scientist to do it. You just need a few fundamentals to get started: good-quality essential oils and a nourishing carrier oil to dilute them. With our guide, you can max out on clean skincare tailored to your skin type. So, you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin (and why!). Tired of toxins and ready to transform your skin? Read on.

Cliganic Organic Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip oil sits in the higher echelons of carrier oils — powerful on its own but supercharged when mixed with essential oils. Jam-packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, it’s Mother Nature’s gift to our skin. Cliganic’s Organic Rosehip Seed Oil is GMO-free, cold-pressed, and single-ingredient. Read: no nasty chemicals in sight. Dreaming of a youthful glow? Rosehip’s got you covered. Dull complexion in need of a brightening boost? Again, rosehip’s here to help. It’s especially talented at reducing the appearance of scars and stretch marks — excellent news for new moms or those recovering from surgery.
Since you must never apply undiluted essential oils to your skin — their potent concentration can wreak havoc — you need a stellar carrier oil in your natural skincare collection. Jojoba oil is the perfect solution, brimming with vitamins E and B, and a truck-load of antioxidants. The Handcraft Blends Organic Jojoba Oil is cold-pressed, organic, and premium-grade. In short, it’s the natural best friend of your essential oils. Apply it alone, or amplify its benefits by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to enhance jojoba’s transformative powers.
Lavender might be your go-to for the diffuser, but did you know it’s a hall-of-fame essential oil for your skin, too? This organic lavender essential oil blends two nutrient-rich lavender oils, Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula hybrida. Meaning? Two oils, one unstoppable skincare hero. A staple in aromatherapy for its calming properties, it works the same magic on your skin. Lavender oil calms irritation, eases redness, and restores harmony. So, if your skin’s craving some calm, indulge in a botanical reset — radiant skin requires balance, and lavender oil delivers with every drop. But remember, never use undiluted essential oils directly on skin; always blend with a carrier oil.
Peppermint oil is you on a best-self day: cool, calm, and collected. The primary active ingredient, menthol, promotes blood flow and soothes redness, giving you bare-faced beauty that’ll have everyone asking, “What’s your secret?” If you’re acne-prone — or even just tackling a rogue pimple — adding a few drops to your moisturizer can stop blemishes in their tracks. Extra credit: peppermint oil is renowned in the natural haircare sphere for its hair growth properties, especially when paired with rosemary oil. No doubt, peppermint oil is a beauty bag staple.
Frankincense oil’s beauty benefits have long been revered, with roots tracing back to ancient Arabia where it was (and is!) prized for its anti-aging, skin-repairing, and anti-blemish properties. Lucky for us, its reputation has traveled to the West, where it’s often found in luxury face creams, masks, and serums. However, you can skip the premium price tags and harness its powers without remortgaging your house. Snap up a bottle of Cliganic Organic Frankincense Oil, and craft your own luxe skincare blends at home.
Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal? Tea tree oil fights all the bad guys — especially when it’s organic. UpNature Organic Tea Tree Oil is the Wonder Woman of skincare; the one you call on if blemishes are your chief nemesis. Brilliant for skin (again, always blend with a carrier oil), you can also turn to tea tree to elevate your haircare game. Add a few drops to your shampoo for a scalp refresh, and soak up the satisfying tingle and salon-fresh hair.
A little heavier than jojoba oil, sweet almond oil is a brilliant alternative if you’re seeking a more moisture-rich carrier oil. Nourishing thirsty skin is the name of the game with sweet almond oil, and it’s a master of its craft. If you’re forever battling dryness, sweet almond oil is your go-to. It leaves skin soft, supple, and beautifully balanced. For the ultimate does-it-all moisturizer, add one drop each of frankincense and lavender oil to two tablespoons of sweet almond oil, and voilà, you have the ultimate skin-worshipping formula. Bear in mind, those with oily skin should steer clear — heavy oils clog pores and lead to breakouts.

Retinol has become an anti-aging A-lister. Why? Its effects are impressive, and the science is solid. Retinol formulas are a must-try if you’d like fewer fine lines, smoother skin, and a more radiant complexion — and who doesn’t want that? All this in a few weeks, with no needles required. A form of vitamin A, retinol works its magic by promoting collagen production and accelerating skin cell renewal, resulting in that glowing complexion we all dream of. Read on for our top picks.
Retinol Pro Tips
– Always use retinol as part of your nighttime skincare routine. Applying it in the morning can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, potentially leading to sun damage. – Start slow. Allow your skin time to build tolerance to retinol by using it a few times a week at first, then increasing to daily or every other day. – Moisturize post-application. Retinol can be drying, so use your favorite creamy moisturizer after your retinol has absorbed to prevent any dry skin woes. – Use SPF. This is skincare 101 — retinol or no retinol, always apply SPF to protect your skin from sun damage. Even when used at night, retinol can increase your skin’s sensitivity to UV, so it’s best to stay safe. – Avoid combining retinol with Vitamin A or exfoliating acids, as this can irritate the skin. Stick with your usual moisturizer — ideally, a gentle one.

Minimalist 0.3% Retinol Serum
If retinol has just entered your vocabulary, the Minimalist 0.3% Retinol Serum is the perfect entry-level formula. Crafted with a blend of retinol, vitamin E, and hydrating agents, it’s also happily free of parabens and sulfates — absolute no-gos. This serum nourishes, replenishes, and gently smooths wrinkles without the harsh side effects of stronger retinols. Great for all skin types, it’s a brilliant first step into the world of retinol.
The Ordinary leads the charge when it comes to innovative (and affordable!) skincare. Debuted in 2024, the Retinal 0.2% Emulsion Serum has caused a stir in the skincare world, with its high-strength formula aiming to reduce wrinkles in just two weeks. Got crow’s feet creeping up? You’re in luck: this serum is an expert at tackling those lines. Bear in mind, its potent concentration of retinaldehyde is best suited to experienced retinol users. So, if you’re a newbie, it’s wise to start with a gentler formula and gradually work your way up.
With a premium price tag comes premium results — at least in the case of Paula’s Choice. The 1% Retinol Treatment Cream contains a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients, but unlike your margaritas, it’ll have you looking fresh as a daisy the morning after. Add licorice extract into the mix, and you’re set for brighter skin and a vibrant glow, too. The slow-release cream ensures consistent absorption, mitigating any dryness or irritation, despite the high concentration. Start slow to see how your skin responds, and work your way up to daily use.
Combining two powerhouse ingredients, retinol and squalane, The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane offers the best of both worlds. Not yet acquainted with squalane? Essentially, it’s an emollient, antioxidant, and hydration triple-win, keeping your skin nourished while the retinol works on your wrinkles behind the scenes. This formula is an excellent middle ground if you’re accustomed to a lower retinol concentration and looking to up your game before progressing to harder-hitting products. Oh, and if you’re acne-prone, no fear: this serum is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog those pores.
Yet another budget beauty big-shot, The Inkey List 1% Slow Release Retinol Serum is a brilliant choice. High strength? Tick. Minimal irritation? Tick. This gentle yet powerful serum is designed to deliver the anti-aging benefits of retinol, without the dreaded “retinol uglies” that often hit in the first weeks of use. That said, this is better if you’ve already introduced retinol into your routine — it’s a great level-up from a lower concentration, with all the beauty bonuses and less dryness.
Dark circles and crow’s feet emerging? Enter Neutrogena’s Retinol Eye Cream. After all, our eyes are often first in the queue to show signs of aging, so let’s give them the care they deserve. It’s beginner-friendly and contains a symbiotic blend of retinol and hyaluronic acid (HA) — in short, a dream team of skincare ingredients. Laser-focused on dark circles and puffiness, this serum delivers on its promises. Thanks to the gentle formula, you can use it daily from the get-go. That said, it’s best for nighttime, as retinol can increase your skin’s UV sensitivity. And don’t be put off by the mini tube. A little goes a long way.
CeraVe stays true to form with its dermatologist-developed Skin-Renewing Retinol Serum. Packed into this formula is the ultimate trio: retinol for wrinkles, HA for hydration, and niacinamide for soothing. Plus, three vital ceramides work in harmony to protect the skin’s barrier, fending off pollutants, allergens, and bacteria. So, if your skin’s starting to show signs of aging, we can’t recommend this product enough. It can’t turn back time, but it can certainly help slow down the clock.

Cats are silly, funny, stubborn little critters that are a true joy to have around the house. Before I adopted my cat, I was pretty naive when it came to all things feline. I enjoyed playing with my friends’ cats when I’d visit their homes, but one-off visits were not enough to let me know the realities of properly caring for these majestic animals. Each cat has a unique personality that you will learn to adore. They also each have their own preferences when it comes to beds, foods, and types of affection. Adopting one has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, but there is some insight that I wish had been shared with me beforehand.
Overall, the work and effort to take care of a cat is well worth it. There is nothing quite like having a cozy kitty cuddled up on your chest purring to start and end your day. If getting a cat is in the cards for you, I hope these tips and product recomendations help make the transition easier. And if you already have a cat and are looking for some guidance, welcome to the club. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Pro Tip: Get Pet Insurance
Having pet insurance is a must! The vet is much more expensive than I had initially anticipated, and without pet insurance, I would be panicked at the cost of procedures. I chose Lemonade because it covers tests, diagnostics, medications, and procedures as well as regular wellness annuals. I’ve gotten reimbused easily the few times I had to use it so far. They even have a preventative care package designed for puppies and kittens that covers procedures like spaying or neutering, microchipping, flea medication, and up to six vaccines or boosters. So if you’re opting for a new and young furry friend, this might be the insurance for you. That being said, it takes a bit of research to find the company and plan right for you. The ASPCA has a helpful guide to start, and I recommend talking to your vet office about their recommendations, too.
Despite their cool, aloof reputation, cats actually need a lot of stimulation and interaction. A bored cat is a mischievous cat, and in some cases, a sad one. Having a rotation of toys keeps things interesting and helps your cat burn off energy in a healthy way. My cat loves toys that allow him to jump, run, and pounce. Laser pointers can be fun in small doses, but make sure to follow up with a toy they can actually catch so they don’t get frustrated. And don’t underestimate the joy of a cardboard box or a crinkly paper bag — my cat loves boxes more than some of his toys. Below are a few toys that I find excite him the most.
Cats are generally very clean animals, but their litter box? Not so much. Of all the things that surprised me as a cat owner, the litter situation was the messiest (and smelliest) part. It took some trial and error, but a few key upgrades made a huge difference.
First, the type of litter and litter box really matter. There are high-end automatic litter boxes that scoop for you, which is super convenient if you’re okay with the price tag. A more affordable option is a self-sifting litter box, especially when paired with pine pellets, which are great at minimizing odor and tracking. Enclosed or top-entry litter boxes keep smells contained and keep litter from spilling out. Be open to a few options, as cats can be picky — just because you like a closed box doesn’t mean they will.
With the right setup, the smell is a non-issue, but litter still gets kicked around no matter what. A good dust buster or vacuum is a must for keeping your floors clean and your sanity intact.
Cats are excellent self-groomers, but they still need a little help. Trimming their nails and brushing their coats are the main things to stay on top of. Nail trims can feel intimidating at first, but after many Youtube videos, I found a routine that works:
– First, wrap your cat in a towel burrito style. – Use a Churu pop or other lickable treat as a distraction – Use sharp, high-quality clippers made for cats
Advertisement
Pro tip: Start handling their paws early and often to build comfort and trust for nail trims. If you’re still unsure, ask the vet to show you at your next appointment. For brushing, I use a gentle brush for regular use and a more heavy-duty Furminator, recommended by my vet tech, for shedding season.
Cats are essentially alarm clocks with one setting. I love my cat dearly, but there are some days where I would really love to sleep in. Cats are crepuscular, meaning that they are most active at dawn and dusk. When dawn breaks, so does my cat’s fast. If you enjoy sleeping in, invest in an automatic feeder. It’s a game-changer, ensuring your cat gets fed without relying on you to get out of bed. If they tend to go full zoomies mode at sunrise, earplugs and a sleep mask can also help you rest through the chaos.
Your cat will scratch and claw at things. Doors, sofas, and rugs are some common victims to this innate behavior they have. Scratching is natural, necessary, and totally unavoidable. Trimming their nails will help, but it’s your job to give your cat better things to scratch than your brand new couch — declawing is painful and never recommended. Be sure to place the posts in locations that your cat is already scratching. Gently redirect their attention to these designated items to save your furniture and sanity. Cats often love vertical options like tall posts or wall-mounted scratchers; cardboard scratchers are cheap and effective.
Every cat has their own preferences when it comes to lounging. Some love cozy hideaways, while others prefer high perches with a view. Giving your cat a designated spot (that isn’t your laptop or freshly folded laundry) helps them feel truly at home. Whether your style is minimalist, boho, or modern farmhouse, there are plenty of cat beds, caves, and towers out there that blend seamlessly with your aesthetic.
With all the options and brands available, feeding your cat can feel overwhelming. Wet food is essential for proper hydration — cats need to stay well-hydrated as they’re prone to urinary blockages. But when it comes to what kind, and what dry food you’re feeding, start with a high-quality brand that fits your cat’s age and health needs. If you’re unsure, ask your vet for guidance, especially before trying trendy diets. If your cat has appetite changes, weight shifts, or digestive issues, check in with your vet. Food plays a big role in their overall well-being.
Here are a few key tips: – Plastic bowls can cause feline acne due to bacteria buildup. Switch to stainless steel, ceramic, or glass to help prevent it. – If your cat isn’t drinking much, try separating their food and water bowls. Cats often prefer running water, so a cat fountain can encourage them to drink more and support kidney health. – Consider using elevated bowls to help with digestion (and lessen neck strain). – Stick to a consistent feeding routine, whether you free-feed or serve meals at set times.

Put Pen or Paint to Paper With These Notebooks for Journaling and Art

A good notebook isn’t just a place to jot things down — it’s a companion, a safe house for your weirdest thoughts and the occasional cryptic note that future you will have zero context for. Over the years, I’ve burned through more notebooks than I can count, chasing that perfect mix of paper feel, design, and overall vibe. Some were instant favorites. Others got tossed into the pile of abandoned notebooks that I swear I’ll get back to someday. Whether you need a sketchbook that can take a beating, a journal that makes writing feel effortless, or something that can survive the chaotic depths of your bag, I’ve got you covered. These are the ones I keep coming back to. So grab your pens, pencils, or paints, and get to work. Your next masterpiece is waiting.

Moleskine Art Sketchbook
There are notebooks, and then there’s Moleskine. The Art Sketchbook is a classic for a reason. The paper is thick and smooth, ready for pencil, pen, or even a light wash of watercolor. It lays flat — because nothing kills inspiration faster than fighting with a stubborn spine — and the hardcover makes it tough enough to take anywhere. If you want a notebook that just works, this is it. Also of note, stickers stick and peel off of the cover nicely, so it’s a good one to decorate.
For the obsessively organized (or those trying to be), Leuchtturm1917 is a dream. The pages are numbered (bless), the paper is smooth but not too slick, and the built-in index makes finding past entries less of an archaeological dig. Plus, it comes in enough colors to match your aesthetic, your mood, or just your other notebooks — because we both know you’re not stopping at just one.
For artists who need a sketchbook that can keep up, Strathmore’s 400 Series is a tank. The 60lb paper handles everything from delicate graphite to bold ink, and the spiral binding means you can flip pages all the way back — no awkward bending required. If your art leans toward dry media, this one should already be on your desk.
Fountain pen users, this is the one. Rhodia’s Webnotebook is absurdly smooth — ink glides over it like a figure skater on fresh ice. No feathering, no bleed-through, just crisp, clean writing. It’s got a soft leatherette cover that feels just luxe enough, without being so precious that you’re afraid to actually use it. If you want your journaling experience to feel a little indulgent, this is the pick.
Watercolor one day, ink sketching the next — Canson’s XL Mixed Media Sketchbook can handle it. The paper is thick enough to take a little abuse, but still smooth enough for detail work. It’s affordable, durable, and makes experimenting feel low-risk. If you like to mix things up, this one deserves a spot in your rotation.
Minimalist heaven. Midori MD notebooks strip things down to the essentials: buttery smooth paper, no distractions, and a lay-flat design that invites you to fill every page. Writing in one is effortless. If you love clean aesthetics and premium paper that makes pens glide, this one is pure joy.
If you paint, the Beta Series is it. The thick, textured pages take watercolor, gouache, and ink like a champ — no warping, no bleeding, just gorgeous color payoff. It’s pricier than some, but if you want a sketchbook that respects your work as much as you do, it’s worth it.
Tiny, tough, and borderline indestructible. The Expedition Notebook is waterproof, tear-resistant, and ready for whatever wild conditions you throw at it. If you’re journaling in the rain, sketching on a hike, or just prone to spilling coffee on everything (same), this one’s got your back.
Tomoe River paper is legendary in the fountain pen world. The pages are impossibly thin, yet somehow hold ink like a dream — no feathering, no smudging, just crisp, delicate lines. It’s lightweight, elegant, and addictive to write on. If you love smooth, effortless writing, this is the endgame notebook.
Eco-friendly, lightweight, and seriously smooth, Fabriano’s Ecoqua is an underrated gem. The recycled paper has just the right amount of texture to make pencil and ink work feel organic, and the softcover keeps it flexible and easy to carry. If you want something simple, functional, and good for the planet, grab one of these.

Hopefully, all Mother’s Days are special for moms, but there’s something especially significant about the first one as a new mama. Although let’s be honest, for moms of new babies, the thing they probably want most of all is a nap! But still, it’s a day to celebrate and pamper her. If you’re looking for useful gifts for new moms, besides an hour of babysitting, here are some ideas to help her enjoy the day. Tubby Todd Hand Cream
New parents wash their hands a whole lot, likely much more than before they had a baby. And all that washing can dry out skin. I kept lotion next to every sink, in every vehicle, and in every diaper bag and purse I owned to combat dry, cracked hands.
This Mama Hand Cream is wonderfully thick — you just need a dime-sized amount to cover both hands. The ginger-lime scent smells pleasant without being overwhelming and the lotion is made without parabens, gluten, dairy, artificial fragrances or color, and Tubby Todd is cruelty-free. The 4-ounce size fits easily in a purse or diaper bag. It feels like a little drop of luxury in the middle of a busy day.
Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son’s First Year
Although this book is titled Operating Instructions, it’s not a how-to manual on raising children. It’s Anne Lamott’s funny and frank account of her son’s first year of life and her first year as a single mom. She captures everything from little, everyday events that make up all of our lives to the huge, overwhelming feelings that come with being a new parent. New moms will read this and feel seen.
Many of us have ruined books by splaying them out around the house, face-down on whatever page we were reading last. If you do give a new mom a book, help her avoid trashing it by adding this pretty bookmark to keep her place. It adds a fun pop of color, and the lovely flower print is on both sides.
Framed photos make touching gifts. This classic frame has a silver finish, and photos can be displayed in portrait or landscape orientation. A pretty frame might be a nice gift by itself, but we think it’s best to present it with a family picture already inside. The act of choosing and printing a photo for a busy new mom is really the best part.
New parents need a diaper bag or backpack with all the supplies necessary for changing a baby on the go. But a separate tote bag is useful for things like groceries, library books, baby toys, or a variety of other items. This nylon tote has cheerful illustrations of flowers from vintage seed packets. It’s lightweight and folds down into a small pouch when it’s not being used. You could make this an extra-special gift for a new mom by filling the tote with books, beauty products, or other pampering items.
There are lots of serviceable nursing bras and tanks out there, but I’m loving the trend towards making them actually cute as well. This soft ribbed nursing tank has a built-in supportive bra and removable pads. It can be worn on its own or layered under another shirt. The clips for nursing are easy to operate one-handed — an important feature when you’re holding a baby!
The pretty lilac color is my favorite, but the tank also comes in camel, brown, and black.
One of the best gifts for a new mom is a night when no one has to worry about dinner! Grab a DoorDash gift card that she can use on a hectic night or to celebrate a special occasion with a nice dinner without needing to get a sitter.
This robe is soft and incredibly warm. New moms will love enveloping themselves in it, and babies will love the way it feels while they’re snuggled. This cozy robe has good-sized pockets and a hood for extra warmth; and it comes in a few colors.
Joy Laforme Art of the Table 500-Piece Foil Puzzle
Sometimes, we moms just need a few minutes to ourselves. We don’t want to think too hard. We want to relax with a cup of tea, maybe some calm music, and a hobby that’s easy to pick up for however much time we can get. Puzzles are perfect for this!
Puzzles have also been shown to be a good workout for the brain, and they can help reduce stress and improve focus — all things an overwhelmed mom can appreciate! This Joy Laforme Art of the Table puzzle is bright and colorful, with pretty flowers, butterflies, and a tablescape.

Throw it in a quick laundry cycle. But how many of us understand what makes these appliances tick? When your refrigerator, TV, or boiler goes on strike, you’re left scrambling to fix the fallout. I’ve always been a movie buff, but these days, I prefer the comfort and convenience of having the theater experience at home. With a simple projector and screen, I’ve completely transformed how I enjoy movies. You can do the same in your own backyard with only a few pieces of equipment — no major DIY skills needed. At home, moviegoer annoyances like people playing with their phones in the dark theater or increasingly expensive snacks are no issue. It will become the ultimate cinematic experience for you and your family. Here are a few ways you can create the perfect movie theater at home.

Choose a Projector
You don’t need to spend a lot for a good-quality projector. This portable and easy-to-set-up option by Panseba has been sufficient for my needs, and though its list price is $100, it’s usually discounted. Just about everything you’ll need to get started is in the box, including an HDMI cable to plug into your laptop (which I do), a power cord to keep it running, a remote, and a screen with sticky-back hangers to hang in a convenient spot for everyone to view. However, higher-end options are available, such as the Aurzen Smart Projector. Unlike the Panseba option, you can connect several streaming accounts to the projector, so you don’t have to worry about connecting it to your computer.
The Panseba projector comes with a screen, but you may want a higher-quality one. I recommend this portable 120-inch option. It’s suitable for both indoors and out, and it comes with ropes, hooks, and double-sided tape for hanging. If you don’t want to hang a screen on a wall, especially if you plan to take your movie theater experience on the go, you may want a screen with a stand. That one’s a bit more expensive, but the setup is smooth for outdoor use, and it even has a travel bag for easy carrying.
Once you have your method of viewing set up, you’ll want to consider your audio. Projectors typically have decent sound, but adding a Bluetooth speaker gives you that authentic movie theater experience. JBL is one of the best Bluetooth speaker brands, with many options across sizes and price points. I recommend the waterproof Charge 4 for its excellent sound and 20-hour battery life. I also like that it has an aux port, which I find to be the easiest method of connecting a speaker to a portable projector. It. However, if you want something low-cost, consider the Uakinat Mini Bluetooth Speaker. It may not have the frills of the JBL, but it’s under $10 and, from my experience, has decent sound.
You have your movie projector and screen set up, you have good sound, and now you need a comfortable place to sit outside. There’s a wide variety of options to consider. I like the Best Choice Products Oversized Padded Zero Gravity Chair. It’s portable and can support up to 300 pounds. Plus, it has a removable tray for holding your favorite beverages and a phone or tablet. If you want something cozier and more comfortable, you may like the Big Joe Milano Outdoor Bean Bag Chair. It’s lightweight, weatherproof, and easy to maneuver around if you want to make sure you get the best view.
If you are truly investing in your backyard cinema, the Nostalgia Popcorn Maker Cart is a must-have. It’s designed like an old-school, professional popcorn cart and makes up to 32 cups, with base storage for holding toppings and treats. It goes well with these movie theater popcorn bags, perfect if you have neighbors or friends over to indulge in your new backyard theater. Add a rolling ice chest to stay stocked up on drinks too. You can roll it over for your guests to grab their beverages before the movie starts, and it also has a bottom shelf for storing plates, bowls, or cups.

Life feels more hectic and expensive than ever. With the rising cost of living, it’s easy to feel like small purchases don’t make much of a difference. But sometimes, it’s the little things, especially the affordable ones, that end up having the biggest impact. I’ve rounded up the best under-$25 gems that may be small but have made a mighty difference in my day-to-day life. From getting out the door faster to sipping café-style coffee at home to never losing my keys again, each of these little upgrades has added more ease, joy, and sanity to my life. It’s proof that you don’t need to spend a lot to make things feel a little more pulled together.

Kitsch Satin Heatless Curling Set
This one won’t be for everyone, but if you have long hair and want a low-effort way to get great curls, this heatless curling tool from Kitsch is a game-changer. I throw it on after a shower and go about my morning routine, answering emails, making coffee, and tidying up, and by the time I’m done, I’ve got soft, pretty flawless curls with zero heat damage.
If you haven’t already upgraded to a reusable water bottle, it’s time. I’ve owned several over the years, and my favorite has to be this reusable, dishwasher-safe glass water bottle. It comes with both a spout lid and bamboo straw lid, so I love that it can be 100% plastic-free.
With costs rising, saving on small things like your daily coffee can make a difference, but there’s no need to deny yourself a foamy and frothy treat to start your day. Buy a frothing wand once and save long-term. I use my frother every day to elevate my coffee routine, and I no longer miss those café-bought lattes.
If you’re someone who’s constantly running late because you’ve misplaced your wallet, keys, or phone, Tile products might just change your life. There are two main models: a slim one that slips easily into your wallet, and a sleek, lightweight keyring attachment. Both connect to your phone via Bluetooth, so you can ping them with a tap and hear a sound that helps you track them down fast — if it’s attached to your phone, you can find it even if it’s on silent. The only downside is that there are no more excuses for being late.
This is at the top because it’ll make unboxing the rest of this list easier! The Slice Ceramic Blade Safety Cutter has eased my frustration with opening packages. The small ceramic blade easily glides over the toughest tape or wrapping. Slice is a safe option for anyone in the family, too — no more dangerous scissor slicing. Its magnetic body allows it to live conveniently on your fridge door.
Switching to a tinted sunscreen has made a huge difference in my morning routine. I have mild rosacea and the occasional breakout, and before this, I’d spend extra time using makeup just to tone down the redness. Now, the tint evens things out enough that I can skip half my products and still feel confident walking out the door. Plus, CeraVe is a high-quality mineral sunscreen, so I know my skin’s protected, too
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned chef or someone who barely cooks, these silicone bowl and cup covers will likely get daily use in your household — they do in mine. We use them to cover everything from open cans of cat food to half-used cucumbers to mugs of leftover coffee. They’ve saved us from the constant hassle of plastic wrap and tin foil, and they’re both dishwasher safe and microwave friendly. Total win and worth the price.
I didn’t realize how chaotic my getting-out-the-door routine was until I discovered shoe horns. Seriously, these little tools opened my eyes to just how much time and effort I was wasting wrestling with my shoes. I used to squish my fingers, occasionally break a nail, and generally start my day slightly frazzled. Now? I grab my trusty shoe horn and slide into any pair with zero hassle.
One of, if not the most important parts of a person’s routine is sleep. Good sleep changes lives! If you’re like me, living in a city with persistent light pollution or even in a room that has lots of buttons lit up through the night, a quality sleep mask is a wonderful investment. The MZOO sleep mask is designed with your eyes in mind, having a concave cushion allowing for zero pressure while you sleep and blocking out all light.

Gozney may not be a household name with home cooks just yet, but the brand has earned quite a reputation with professional chefs and restauranters. Its original product, the Roccbox, was a movable, home-cook-friendly pizza oven. It was a massive hit on Indiegogo — a crowdfunding platform meant to connect prospective buyers with potential sellers — raising $1,200,000 in 30 days. That largely went to fulfilling orders, and it would, in turn, propel Roccbox and Gozney to new heights, putting its ovens into the homes, backyards, campsites, alleyways, and beyond of more novice culinary talents. Now, after a detour into bigger, more commercial-ready designs, Gozney is returning to its roots with the Tread oven, a go-anywhere, cook-anything model built to get to temperature quickly and cool down just as fast.

Between the Roccbox and the Tread, the company’s compact ovens became less, well, compact. First came the Dome, a versatile, high-performance outdoor-only oven meant for more serious chefs. It ran on both wood and gas fuels, meaning you could experiment with the raw power (and pleasure) of cooking with wood or opt for convenience (gas). Then came a gas-only version, which offered the same wood-fired-style flame but without the difficulty of maintaining a live fire. Then, Gozney found its sweet spot, it seemed: the Arc and Arc XL — one of our favorite pizza ovens — which married the compactness of the Roccbox with the robustness of the Dome. It could fit into well-assembled outdoor kitchens or rove from outdoor space to outdoor space. It could still be moved if you really wanted to take it to go.

The Tread, however, with its aluminum and steel body, 12-millimeter (0.5 inches) removable cordierite stone, and lightweight layers of insulation, moves with ease — and, actually, that’s what it’s meant to do. It can live in your backyard or on your back deck, but it can also be taken to a remote campsite, to the shores of some isolated beach, or set up on the sidewalk outside your buddy’s house. With the Tread, you can take not only your pizza but your pizza oven to go, too.

Gozney Tread Portable Pizza Oven
Pros
Light and quick to heat up and cool down; Versatile enough for a variety of recipes
Cons
Low clearance burns puffier pizzas; Accessories cost extra but feel essential
Stats
29.7 pounds External: 16.5″ (W) x 19.1″ (D) x 12.6″ (H) Internal: 12.2″ (W) x 15″ (D) x 5.9″ (H)
It’s Simple and Easy to Use — Even If You’ve Never Made a Pizza Before
I am no pizza expert. I have friends who grew up working in pizza shops, and I’ve seen just about every pizza-making YouTube video ever produced, but I can’t, for the life of me, imagine having to crank out perfectly round pizzas on repeat. Luckily, the Gozney Tread is very forgiving and super easy to use.
Before your first fire, set the oven in a fire-safe zone, preferably outside and away from other flammable materials, place in the burner guard, and attach the 1.2m gas hose and regulator. And because this thing runs on propane, the initial set up couldn’t be easier, given you’ve ever grilled before. To ignite, simply twist a knob found on the righthand side of the oven until you hear clicking and then hear the combustion — just like a gas stove.

On your first fire, you have to let the oven cure, which basically means kick on the fire, let it heat up on low for a half-hour before turning up the lateral burner — which mirrors the type of arced flame you see in a wood-fired oven.

What you do from here is up to you. Whether you hand-toss a perfectly circular pie or come out with something oval- or square-shaped, it doesn’t matter much. The Tread gets up to 950 degrees Fahrenheit in 15 minutes and can cook a small pizza in basically a minute. Your first few might burn, but the beauty of this oven is that it’s easy to maintain once on — just make sure you have enough propane. Therefore, you can keep the pizzas coming until you feel content (or full).

Unlike Other Pizza Ovens, You Can Take It To Go
You can take the Tread pretty much anywhere. We were limited because of the weather — it was still the tail end of winter where we were when the Tread first came out — that’s not to say a more adventurous chef (or non-chef) wouldn’t test its limits. Just ask pro skier Sage Cattabriga-Alosa. “The Tread is the ultimate in road trip fueled cooking,” he says “It provides seamless setup and top-level cooking in a streamlined package, perfectly designed for on-the-go use and versatility.” For someone who regularly summits, and subsequently nosedives down, mountains, that’s quite the compliment.
I found it was easy to lift on my own, but it might be too much for my fiancée or one of her friends to conquer themselves. With or without the handy carrying bag, the Tread offers two spots for hands atop it, making it easy to tag team the oven out to your desired cooking site with or without the stand in tow.

It’s Compact But Not Too Small
While it could be a bit cumbersome for someone who can’t easily lift 30 pounds, that doesn’t mean the oven is oversized. It’s the perfect dimensions for a personal pizza or a thinner pie meant to be split between two or three people alongside other snacks. Plus, I never felt constrained when I needed to rotate a pizza, put a pizza in, or pull one out. You have plenty of space to maneuver in there, especially if you’re using Gozney-made tools, like the Venture Turning Peel or Placement Peel.

It Makes Open-Fire Cooking Easy
While I obviously made my fair share of pies during the testing period, I was frankly equally excited to try, well, basically anything else: chicken wings, steak, dessert, potatoes, you name it. Sure, there’s a learning curve when it comes to cooking with an oven that gets two times hotter than the one in your kitchen, but for those that love wood-fired food, extra-charred potatoes or a good steak with a significant crust on it, you’ll find that the Tread almost beats cooking over charcoal — at least it did for me.

Some may look at it and just see pizza, and therefore feel like it’s not worth the investment. But the Tread, and all of the Gozney ovens, for that matter, offer a whole lot more. The Tread just does it in a slighter, more portable package.
